To remove the stand from your monitor, use a small Phillips head screwdriver in order to undo the screws at each corner of the screen frame. Then, lift off your monitor's stand and replace it with one made for mounting purposes (if applicable).
If you're using an adapter, tighten the screws with a screwdriver. When you're done, remove the adapter and tighten the monitor stand's original screws.
If you're not using an adapter, use a flat-head or Phillips head screwdriver to loosen and tighten the screws as needed.
